IELTS is also known as International English Language Testing System. This test is one of the most popular English Language proficiency tests all around the world. This exam is for those candidates who want to work, study, or live abroad where people use English to communicate. Countries like Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, New Zealand, and Australia accept IELTS. This exam assesses candidates Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking skills. There are 2 types of IELTS exams: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. The Listening and Speaking modules of the IELTS exam are the same for both tests. But the subject matter of the Writing and Reading module differs depending on which test you take. The IELTS Listening, Reading, and Writing test are conducted on the same day without any breaks. The total duration of this test is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
The IELTS exam is one of the most widely used to assess English ability and is accepted by more than 11,000 universities worldwide. It is accessible to many people with over 1000 test locations in more than 140 countries. This test isn’t just important for working or studying abroad. This test also helps candidates in improving their spoken and writing skills. Authorities who grant visas can ensure that candidates can easily communicate with the locals and won’t face any major communication difficulties by checking candidates’ English proficiency.
Candidate must have a valid passport and also must be 16 years of age.
Date and Frequency | IELTS exam conduct a total of 48 times in one calendar year. So, Candidates can give the IELTS exam up to 4 times a month. In India, the availability of IELTS dates may differ for IELTS GT and Academic. |

Center and Admit Card | In India, there are 50 test city locations where candidates can give the IELTS exam. There is no admit card provided for the IELTS exam. |
Result | If a candidate has a paper-based IELTS test, then they will get their IELTS result 13 calendar days after the test. If a candidate has a computer-based IELTS test, then they will get their IELTS result in 5-7 calendar days. The candidate will only get 1 original test report form (TRF). |
Score Reporting | If candidates need more original TRF, then they can request for up to 5 additional TRFs to be sent to Receiving Institutions (professional bodies, Universities, etc) within 1 month of taking the IELTS exam. The additional TRFs candidate will get by courier through DHL and they will be charged accordingly. |
