If you aspire to start your studies and career abroad, you might be aware of the English language testing exams.

If you aspire to start your studies and career abroad, you might know the English language testing exams.

All the students from non-native English countries must present a valid English language test score to the universities they are applying to.

Various exams are popular and accepted by universities across the globe. Some of the most popular are the IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, and the Duolingo test.

The PTE test for English has recently gained popularity among Indian students and is also accepted by many universities abroad.

You require a good PTE study plan to score well in the PTE and have a score that makes you stand out and get selected for universities.

In this blog, I will guide you through the best study plan for PTE that will help you prepare.

What Does A Good Study Plan Have?

In this blog, I will describe a detailed 1-month study plan for you, but you will need to analyze your strengths and weaknesses and then improve this study plan to make it fit best for you.

Students are often confused regarding the time needed to prepare for the PTE. If you put in 4-5 hours a day and study with an organized plan, then 4 weeks should be enough to get your desired score in PTE academic. Here are some of the characteristics of the best PTE study plan:

1) Keep it practical:

Most students get too excited while making a study plan and make impractical goals. This makes them unable to reach those goals, and then they get demotivated.

You should always take one step at a time and keep your goals practical and small.

2) Be consistent:

The most important part of a PTE study plan is not making but executing the plan that you made. Most students leave the plan midway.

So, make a practical study plan and be consistent in your efforts. Every day counts, and if you cannot do your planned studies one day, try taking extra time out and completing it the next day.

3) Personalization:

Don’t just choose any study plan from the internet and start working on it. You should improvise the study plan you like and make it personal.

Improvise the plan to suit your needs, and do not copy and paste what you see online.

4 Weeks PTE Study Plan

Here I will discuss a 4 weeks study plan for the PTE exam that students must follow if they only have a month to prepare.

Sometimes students get tense when they see that they do not have enough time for preparation, and under that tension, they fail to get a good or required score on the exam.

But do not worry by following the 4 weeks study plan that I have mentioned below, even an average student can get desired or required band score.

So let’s get started!

4 Weeks PTE Study Plan

Week 1

In week 1 of the study plan, you must familiarize yourself with the PTE exam pattern or format. This will help you to get an idea of the structure of the exam and how you need to manage your time.

After understanding the exam format, the next task from week 1 is to take a practice test to understand where you currently stand.

After taking the test and analyzing the results, you must improvise the study plan according to your strengths and weaknesses.

Format of the exam

The PTE exam is decided into 3 sections, the Speaking and writing section, the listening section, and the reading section.

The exam is of 2 hours and 15 minutes. The main difference in the format of the PTE from other exams is that the speaking and writing sections are merged into one.

Take a practice test

The first thing you need to do after going through the format of the exam is to take an official full-length practice test. You do not need to prepare anything or study for this exam.

The whole purpose of taking this practice test before studying is to understand where you stand.

After taking the test, analyze the test results thoroughly and understand what sections and sub-sections are your strengths and weaknesses.

Make a study plan

After you have gone through the exam format and taken a practice test to analyze your strengths and weaknesses, you can make a study plan according to your needs.

Give more time to the sections that require more preparation, and try to complete sections that are your strengths in the shortest amount of time.

Week 2

The week 2 of your study plan should be focused on working on your weaknesses. You must have identified some sections which have been hard for you in the practice test.

You can take those sections first and work on them. Apart from working on your weaknesses, week 2 is also about maintaining regularity and consistency. You can also change your study plan according to your recent understanding of sections.

Working on your weaknesses

Any of the sections might have proved to be hard for you while giving the practice test. For example, if the speaking and writing section was hard for you, spend more time watching English videos by foreigners and TV shows.

You can also try to speak in English throughout this 1 month with your friends. For the writing part, you can read various essays online that follow the PTE format.

Maintain consistency

Fix the number of hours that you are going to put in daily. This number needs to be practical, do not fix a number more than 6.

Studying daily for 4-5 hours can easily get you the score you need, the condition being that you maintain regularity and consistency. Most students get excited in the first week, but by the second week, they break their schedule.

Improvise

You might think that the sections you allotted less time in the beginning now seem harder, or the sections you allowed more time seem easier.

In this case, be free and flexible to change your PTE study plan. Do not change it occasionally, but feel free to improvise when you feel like some section needs more or less time. Do not keep the study plan rigid.

Week 3

Since you allotted week 2 to work on your weaknesses, week 3 should be devoted to studying the sections which are your strengths.

You may improve these sections even more, to compensate for the marks you might lose in the sections that are your weakness.

You will get a lot of free time in the PTE study plan week 3 because you are studying your strengths, so use this time to improve your grammar and vocabulary.

Working on your strengths

You might think that you do not need to give more time to the sections you are already good at, but if you put in some more effort to make these sections even better, then you can make up for the marks that you are going to lose in the sections in which you are weaker.

Grammar and vocabulary

The most important thing about preparing for PTE (Pearson Test of English) is improving your grammar and vocabulary. There is no section where these skills are tested, rather, they are analyzed in every section.

If you have a good grip on grammar and vocabulary, you can gain more marks in every section of the PTE. You can improve your grammar and vocabulary by referring to some books designed for PTE preparation

Week 4

Until week 4, you must have studied all your strengths and weaknesses. You might also have developed a good grip on grammar and vocabulary.

At the start of the PTE study plan week 4, you should take another full-length practice test. Analyze the results from the test and the sections which are still weak; pay more attention to them in the coming week.

You can also take time out to relax and calm yourself down before the actual exam.

Analyze The Result

After taking the practice test, take a day to analyze the results thoroughly. Pay more attention to minute details and the questions you are struggling with.

For example, if you have acquired low marks in the listening section, this may be because you cannot understand the foreign accent clearly.

You can watch videos in a foreign accent and podcasts that will help you familiarize yourself with the accent.

If you are struggling with the reading section, try reading as much as possible to improve your reading speed.

Relax

The week before the exam is always the most tense and anxious. You need to calm yourself down and let the tension go before the exam.

This anxiety might harm your score. You can just go out with friends or watch some movies.
