According to the latest news from Canadian immigration, Canada has introduced new rules for study visas. IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) announced they now accept the four new English language proficiency exams through (Student Direct Stream) SDS study visas.

All the SDS applicants now submit these four new exam scores after 10 August 2023. The four new English language exams accepted by SDS are mentioned below.

Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL)
Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academics
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT
Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)

Now, 10 French or English language proficiency exams exist for students applying for SDS study visas. Here are all the exams and their score requirements.

Proficiency Exams	Required Scores
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language)	Minimum of 60 scores with results from all four language skills.
CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program)	Students need a score that is equivalent to a (CLB) Canadian Language Benchmarks score of 7 or more for each skill
PTE Academics (Pearson Test of English)	Minimum of 60 scores with results from all four language skills
TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language)	Minimum of 83 scores with results from all four language skills
IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System)	A minimum score of 6 bands with the result from all four language skills
IELTS General	Students need a score that is equivalent to a (CLB) Canadian Language Benchmarks score of 7 or more for each skill

Important Note:- To apply for a Canada study visa under the SDS category, students must remember that Canada only accepts these language tests in person. Home-based or online examinations are not acceptable.

SDS New Rules Of Study Visa

As of 10 August 2023, Along with IELTS Academics and IELTS General, Canada is now accepting the four new English language proficiency exams for SDS study visas, including PTE, CELPIP, CAEL, and TOEFL iBT.

Also, IRCC announced that students now permit SDS study visa applicants to submit their study visa applications with 6.0 IELTS bands with 5.5 in 1-2 modules.

Under the SDS study visa, there are a total of 14 countries eligible, which are mentioned below.
