New Visa Rule For Work Cap For Australian Student Visa Holders
From July 1, Australian student visa holders will have a new work-hour cap. Previously work restrictions were relaxed during the pandemic. New instructions were reintroduced and set a normal limit of 40 to 48 hours per fortnight for all visa holders students (but banning those in the aged care sector).
This new rule aims to help students concentrate on their studies while helping themselves financially, acquiring practical work experience, and contributing to Australia’s workforce requirements.
Australian Visa holders candidates currently working in the aged care sector as of 9 May 2023 can continue to begin their work in unrestricted hours until the end of 31 December 2023. However, with the work hours flexibility, students must maintain their course registration and ensure satisfactory attendance and progress in their studies. Please comply with these needs to avoid a breach of visa requirements.
