Vietnam Could Be The Latest Country To Allow Visa-Free Travel For Indians<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to VnExpress, a local news agency, the Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Sports has called for short-term visa waivers for major markets like India and China to drive tourism recovery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, citizens of France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Finland, and Spain can enter Vietnam without a visa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first ten months of this year, Vietnam welcomed around 10 million international travelers, a 4.6-fold rise compared to the corresponding period in 2022 and overtaking the targeted goal for 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The duration of stay has been tripled for citizens from the 13 countries exempted from visa requirements and is now set at 45 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian visitors have had a good few months, with Thailand and Sri Lanka announcing visa waivers. Beginning on November 10, Thailand scrapped the need for visas for Indian visitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visa exemption permits Indian visitors a 30-day stay and will be in place until 10 May 2024. The Thai government later said the scheme could be extended if demand grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thailand Tourism Authority wants more travelers to visit Thailand. In 2022, we received around 965,994 Indian tourists; this year, for travelers from 1 January to 31 October, we received about 1,302,483 Indian tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October, Sri Lanka also introduced a visa-free initiative for travelers from 7 nations, including India, Russia, and China, as a part of a pilot project. This project begins immediately and will be effective till March 31, 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A McKinsey study released in November shows that the number of Indian travelers is set to grow significantly due to economic prosperity and increasing interest in international travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report “From India to the World” suggests that if India follows China’s outbound travel trend (which is possible given the similarity in population size and per capita income trajectory), Indian tourists could take 80 to 90 million trips annually by 2040.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
