A January report by former police commissioner Christine Nixon highlighted the prevalence of sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and other forms of organized crime within the immigration system. The government’s action aims to crack down on these frauds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew Giles, the immigration minister, said the Nixon review has recognized the significant abuse and misuse of the visa system in Australia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By emphasizing maintaining integrity in the immigration process, the Australian government can safeguard vulnerable communities from exploitation and ensure fairness across the visa system for all individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Australia has recently proposed expediting the admission of highly skilled workers and facilitating the path to permanent residency, as it faces challenges in meeting the requirements for skilled work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April, the government announced plans to simplify and expedite the visa process for skilled professionals while also seeking to retain international students to address the growing demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In previous days, Australia also announced that the federal government is to ban the education agents who are paid for poaching students away from their existing institutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All these reforms come as a reaction to a complete review led by former Victoria police chief commissioner Christine Nixon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Australia’s Home Affairs minister, Clare O’Neil, the current immigration system is too complicated and challenging for ordinary citizens and businesses seeking skilled workers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To improve compliance with regulations, risk indicators will be incorporated into the global education system, with an emphasis on private providers. It will entail a more comprehensive examination of student attendance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, amendments to the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 will strengthen the fit and proper provider test, increasing the standards for enrollment and preventing cross-ownership between education providers and agents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
