Which Categories Have the Most Job Vacancies In Express Entry Draws: On 31 May, Canada Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced the category targeted in the express-entry draws expected to start this summer. 

The category-based express entry will happen along with program-specific and general draws. In program-specific draws, IRCC invitations are limited to the high-ranking candidates by the program. In general draws, IRCC invites high-ranking candidates who apply for PR (Permanent Residence).

Which Categories Are Invited In The Express-Entry Draws

In the new express entry category-based draws, IRCC will only invite high-ranking students who have a high French language proficiency or also who have a high work experience in any one of the following areas:

  • Healthcare
  • Engineering, Science, Technology, and Mathematics (STEM) professions
  • Trades include Plumbers, Carpenters, and Contractors.
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food

Healthcare

After Covid-19, Canada experienced high job vacancies in the Social Assistance and Healthcare category. 

Canada heavily depends on immigration to fill the empty vacancies in healthcare. A quarter of 36% of physicians and registered nurses in Canada were taken outside of Canada.

In (Q4) which means the fourth quarter of 2022, there were 143,695 job vacancies in the Healthcare category, making the employment vacancy rate 6%. The job vacancies per province were:

Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said inviting more experienced and talented employees in these professions categories will help Canada admit in-demand experts into communities nationwide. Also, the express entry category-based draw is expected to start in the summer, but an actual date has yet to be available.
