New Zealand Expands Job Roles Offering Residency To Foreign Workers: New Zealand is one of the most popular destinations for international students and workers alike.

It offers a high quality of life, a world-class education system, and a solid economy for individuals.

Currently, New Zealand has added more job roles for individuals that help them gain residency, which we will discuss in this article. So, let’s dive in!

New Zealand Expands Job Roles Offering Residency To Foreign Workers

New Zealand is adding 17 new occupations, including aviation engineers, welders, correctional officers, and many more, to its immigration green list. This list offers a fast way to gain residency.

According to Immigration Minister Andrew Little in Wellington, beginning next year, all employers in such industries as automotive, information technology,  and engineering will be able to apply for Green List visas if they cannot find a qualified New Zealand worker to fill a specialized role.

He mentioned that some other job roles were added to the green list visa, including panel beaters, database and systems administrators, vehicle painters, road-roller operators, etc.

Also, the list has expanded since the coronavirus pandemic created skill shortages in a range of industries. The Government of New Zealand expects offering residence will make the nation more attractive as it competes for foreign workers.

There has been a significant increase in immigration to New Zealand, with 135,000 foreigners arriving in the country between July of last year and this year.

While this has been beneficial for easing the strain on the labor market, the Treasury Department has expressed concerns that the added demand may contribute to inflation pressure.

The government also added seven more occupations, including road traffic controllers and machine operators, to a separate list.

This list allows employers in the construction and infrastructure sector to hire many migrants at a lower salary threshold than the regular work visa allows.

To be eligible for residency under the Green List, foreign workers must have a job offer from a New Zealand employer for a role on the Green List. They must also meet specific other criteria, such as having the required skills and experience.

The Green List is not the only way for foreign workers to obtain residency in New Zealand. There are a number of other visa options available, such as the Skilled Migrant Category and the Partner Visa.

So, it is all about New Zealand expands job roles offering residency to foreign workers.
