Myanmar Will Soon Offer Visa On Arrival To Indian Tourists: According to the state media reports, Myanmar will offer visas on arrival to tourists of India.

Citing the immigration ministry of the junta, the media reports said that a starting date for this scheme for a one-year trial will be announced soon.

Indians now have to apply only for a Myanmar tourist visa through a Myanmar embassy or online.

The tourist visa holders will be allowed to visit all sites apart from some restricted areas for security concerns, according to the reports.

Australia and the United States have both advised their residents not to visit Myanmar country due to the ongoing conflict.

The military junta is trying to attract foreign visitors for their money because they are facing difficulties in suppressing opposition to their 2021 coup and have acknowledged that there are parts of the country they do not have complete control over.

India and China both share porous and long borders with Myanmar and have maintained ties with the generals since the coup.

The tourism ministry of the junta is seeking to lure Russian tourists, who are also a significant ally and arms provider.

Recently, the national airline launched direct flights to Novosibirsk in Russia, and the government is striving to enable the use of Russia’s Mir cards for direct transactions.

Myanmar welcomed tourists in 2011 after years of military governance and became a favorite destination for travelers.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the violent suppression of dissent following the military coup, the country’s borders have been shut, and tourists have been discouraged from visiting.

Consequently, the economy has been affected, with the local currency, kyat, falling against the dollar and frequent power outages disrupting major cities where ATMs and foreign exchange counters are not readily available.

So, it is all about Myanmar will soon offer visa on arrival to Indian tourists.
