On Thursday, Senator James Lankford pointed out that some people trying to enter the US illegally take several flights, with layovers in countries like France, just to get to Mexico, which has the nearest airport.

They then rely on buses arranged by drug cartels to take them to the border for their final journey.

Senator Lankford highlighted that a large number of migrants, including 45,000 individuals from India this year, receive guidance from criminal cartels in Mexico regarding what to say and where to go in order to exploit the asylum system and gain access to the country. At the same time, they wait for their asylum hearing.

During a recent speech, he emphasized the importance of addressing the shortcomings in America’s asylum system. He noted that international standards for asylum and refugee status are identical.

Lankford maintained that those seeking asylum should seek refuge in the closest secure location and apply for asylum. However, this practice is not always followed in the United States.

So, it is all about more and more Indians being caught trying to enter the US illegally.
