Foreign Workers Are Now Allowed To Study In Canada Without Authorization: If you are a foreign worker and have a work visa in Canada, IRCC announced a new measure for all these workers. IRCC has announced a new policy to help foreign workers to study in Canada and improve their knowledge and skills.
Foreign workers can pursue additional education and training with work to help them in their careers. Also, this new policy will help workers to extend their future employment opportunities and improve their chances of transitioning to permanent residence. This article will discuss how foreign workers are now allowed to study in Canada without authorization.
Foreign Workers Are Now Allowed To Study In Canada Without Authorization
On 27 June, the Honourable Minister of IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship), Sean Fraser, announced a new temporary policy for foreign workers to benefit in Canada. According to this new policy of IRCC, now foreign workers on Canadian work permits can register in study programs longer than six months without requiring any study visa or permit.
This new temporary action or policy will apply to everyone who holds a valid Canada work visa or whose work visa extension is still ongoing effective 27 June. This new temporary policy will stay in effect for three years until 27 June 2026.
IRCC also removed the work cap on the duration of the study program for all work visa holders. Previously, if work visa holders wanted to enroll in a course longer than six months, they needed a study permit/visa. Every year, thousands of temporary foreign workers bring their expertise to Canada and help fill the gaps in the labor market and boost Canada’s economy.
Foreign employees always contribute significantly to the GDP of Canada. Still, they sometimes face limitations on the various types of education programs they may register to follow their objectives and take on new opportunities. Also, this new temporary policy will improve the job options for foreign national workers and their chances of settling here permanently.
This new temporary policy is also good news for those who want to advance their education and receive additional training, specifically those who need to upskill or confirm their international certifications through specific programs.
This new 3-year temporary policy will allow foreign workers to register for part-time or full-time studies. At the same time, the work permits are valid until this new temporary policy expires without any restrictions on the duration of the program. Foreign workers should still apply for a study permit if they desire to continue their education beyond the time their work visa allows.
The Honourable Minister of IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship), Sean Fraser, said these temporary foreign workers are especially important for the economy of Canada, and many have aspirations far beyond the job that initially brought them to Canada. With this new temporary policy in place, we aim to empower foreign national workers to improve their knowledge and skills to fulfill their career objectives and acquire their goals while providing a possible source of talent for our labor market.
By clearing barriers to skill development, we also open the door to more foreign-trained nurses and doctors to help care for our loved ones and help our healthcare system. We also offer a method for the construction laborers to become tradespersons, support our communities and build new homes. This new immigration action/policy also helps workers, employers, and our economy by managing critical needs. It is welcome news for all parties involved.
