Canada Announced 2 New Immigration Streams For Skilled Refugees Under EMPP
Refugees and other displaced people are forced to start over when they leave their home country. However, they shouldn’t have to start from the beginning, especially when acquiring training, skills, experience, and education. Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) is creating more opportunities for skilled refugees and displaced individuals to immigrate and utilize their education, training, and experience to continue their careers in Canada. This program seeks to tap into the overlooked talent of these individuals.
On Monday, 12 June, The Minister of IRCC Canada announced 2 new immigration streams For Skilled Refugees under EMPP, completing a commitment on 27 March 2023. The two streams are EMPP Federal Skills Job Offer Stream and EMPP Federal Skills Without a Job Offer Stream. But Students can also continue to apply through living provincial EMPP economic paths.
These two immigration streams allow Canadian employers to access the talent of skilled refugees and other displaced individuals worldwide. This access will enable Canada to increase economic immigration, fill in-demand jobs, and complete its humanitarian commitments.
Through collaboration with partners during the first rollout of EMPP streams, IRCC implemented efficiencies and made improvements. As a result, newcomers utilizing the EMPP can now move to Canada and start working faster. These new streams also stop the requirement for Canadian work experience and reduce access barriers.
Both streams are announced for different purposes. The first stream is used for candidates with a job offer from a Canadian employer, and another one is for highly skilled refugees without any employment offer.
